2025 NEWSLETTER

Message from the 2025 Board

We are all looking forward to spring and summer 2025 here at Great Lakes Shores! Enjoying beach weather, long summer days and seeing our neighbors. Our board is dedicated to its duties regarding Great Lakes Shores Incorporated. We encourage members to attend meetings and events and share ideas. Our neighborhood thrives when we engage together with positive interaction.  We would like to welcome any new residents to the neighborhood. Thank you to all residents who have taken the time to help our neighborhood in any way.

2024 Project Recap: 2024 was yet again a busy year for GLS with some much need updates/projects. Our clubhouse was given a beautiful face lift to include paint throughout, new kitchen floor, new kitchen cabinets, and fresh décor in the bathrooms. Our beach stairs received a new breath of life with a fresh coat of paint on all. The kayak rack was extended to add 4 more spaces. A 24/7 Dog Beach was created two beaches south of Huran Bay Beach

  1. Projects: Possible addition of 2nd Kayak rack, Dogwood/Cedar Jetti improvements, Information Board repairs, and more.

Dues Reminder: Your annual GLS dues (dues notices included with this newsletter) are due by May 1st. If the dues are not received on time, you will be charged up to a $100 late fee. If you continue to accumulate dues and late fees, a Lien will be placed on your property once you owe $500. Even if you owe past Dues or already have a Lien, you can keep it from adding up any further by paying the current year's dues.

Be a Good Neighbor:

  • Dogs: Leash laws are in place on all beaches and throughout Great Lake Shores.  Always clean up after your pooch please!

All Beaches - Dogs are welcome strictly between the hours of 8pm and 8am only.

Dog Beach - Dogs are welcome 24/7 1 beach south of Huron Bay Beach for those who want to spend the day with your fury friends.

  • Beaches: Please help keep the beaches nice by taking your trash away with you. We provide a trash can at the top of every beach, so it should be easy to do.

  • Volunteers Needed: There are a lot of projects that could use volunteers, from Memorial Day Breakfast, Annual Picinic, cleanup days at Mill Cree, and emptying the 4 trash cans on the bluff. Please let us know if you can pitch in on projects, either by sending an email, or talking to board members at any meeting.

  • New Bluff Trimming Info: Members are reminded that no one is allowed to trim, cut, damage, or remove any vegetation, or to plant anything on the bluff, parkways, or clubhouse grounds without prior authorization. HOA will assume this responsibility.

Just for You:

  • Kayak Rack: Spaces are available to rent for your kayaks on a first come, first served basis. The rack was very popular, and all spaces were rented out early. We are considering building a second rack if there's enough interest. In the meantime, get your reservations in as early as you can, by visiting the GLS website to fill out a kayak rental form.

  • Clubhouse Rental: The GLS Clubhouse is available to rent by our members. It's a nice space at a reasonable price, so please consider taking advantage of it! To schedule an event at the clubhouse, a signed agreement (available on our website) and a refundable deposit are required.

GREAT LAKES SHORES

Our residential subdivision is four miles

south of the village of Lexington, MI. It was incorporated in 1936. This neighborhood enjoys a sense of community & friendly residents often seen walking dogs, chatting on patios or enjoying the lake together.  It offers a peaceful retreat from city life. The proximity to Lake Huron lends itself to spectacular sunrise views and the beauty of nature.  Overall, it's a GREAT place to be!
